“How are they going to make them fly?” my sister and I wondered, as we sat in the darkened auditorium, watching the first dress rehearsal of a local production of Peter Pan.
“Ropes?”
The lights came back up. No ropes. They flew from standing on an camouflaged platform, with actors carrying cardboard buildings and water to move swiftly beneath them. Gorgeous.
And then the stage went dark. All at once stars appeared! On stage. Luminous. The actors had flashlights pointed straight outward. The effect was arrestingly beautiful. Only topped by the fact that my six year old son was seated on the floor right in front of the stage, dressed in full sequined glory alongside his oceanic peers, as a merman.
The mer-children sat watching the stars. I could see Geo’s silhouette; a top hat adorned with flowers. My twin sister and I were misty-eyed in the back.
Victor Hugo said “it is by the real that we exist; it is by the ideal that we live.”
The cosmic atmosphere right now is rich with Pisces and Aries, highlighting those very dreams and ideals that let us truly live.
The current Full Moon Eclipse is in Virgo, Pisces’ polar opposite. If Pisces is the luminous ideal of harnessing stars on a stage, Virgo is the making sure all of the actors have a flashlight, with batteries, and that they know when and where to turn them on. If Pisces is the memorable dazzle of a mermaid song and dance, Virgo is the making sure to bring the children’s water bottles, a snack, the right base layers of clothing for their costumes, and securing a pizza to be picked up on the way back.
