The Power of Intent: Shaping Your Aura

Think of someone you know, better yet, someone you love. Let them come to your mind in a flash. Is it their occupation that you hold in your mind, their street address? Is it their numerical age or the amount of money in their bank account? Or is it rather, a sweep of a vibe, a general nature that they emit?

I would wager that it is the latter.

We hold our loved ones in our mind in their wholeness. It is their nature, their general physics, their vibrations and ways that we hold, not a set of disparate facts.

Great paintings like Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring portray their subjects in their full beauty, which includes a hint of their aura.

It may be cringe-worthy for some, but another word for this general feel of someone is their aura. In changing the zodiac wheel into an energy field we can get closer to understanding the natural physics of an aura. What makes it strong and resilient? What makes it shrink?

I remember having an eye-opening realization one typically hectic morning when my son was four and in preschool. Rushing as usual, desperate as usual, my tone and demeanor were not very admirable. He was upset, and this scene was becoming too familiar. In a flash I thought “he doesn’t owe me anything. He will remember me later in life the way I really am.”

I made a vow to start getting up an hour earlier. Mornings became so much more smooth and pleasant. If I lost my cool here and then, I took solace in knowing that it wasn’t my norm and that for most mornings, I emit a nature, an aura, that I can stand behind and feel good about.

A chain of memories can support or thwart your aura. Through our intentions and efforts, we can build these memories to be supportive. A montage in my mind of happy breakfasts, radio and impromptu jokes is far more supportive to my aura than one of chaotic rushing and ineffective countdowns.

Think how far you can extend this idea. When it comes to your job, what is your chain of memories? How about your side hustle? Your living space? Your friendships? In what area of your life are your memories best supporting your aura? In what area are they least supporting it?

Building a chain of good memories is like putting a ton of money in a bank. It is a real currency from which to draw freely from. Yes, you can be rich in aura, rich in your field. You can appreciate the wealth of another and share in their riches. And you can always begin again, to build.

It isn’t just memories we can build, it’s habits, relationships, character and skills!

If our behavior is ninety percent ruled by the subconscious mind, we better hope we can have some influence on this. And we can. By forming habits, building memories, and learning new skills we have the power to shape the subconscious. Our behavior, still under a lunar waltz, at least has some stamp of intentionality on it.

The natural physics of an aura have to do with the interplay of light and dark, of our well-lit intentions having an effect on the dark fertile ground of our natures. In other words, there is a swirl of nature in you, instinctive and momentous. It controls you, in a sense. But in an ever more real sense, you have the capacity to control it

Paul Foster Cases’ Strength card of the major arcana illustrates the power of strength, trust, and the conscious control of inner forces, leading to greater personal mastery and peace.

The natural physics of an aura have to do with power. In the same way, they have to do with powerlessness. Psychologist Albert Bandura said, When people believe that they have no power to control events, they tend to disengage themselves from efforts to shape their destinies.”

Albert Bandura’s concept of self-efficacy refers to an individual’s belief in their ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task. It’s not just about having the skills, but also about believing you can effectively use those skills.

We have power. We have a swirl of momentum inside. We have horsepower. We have mojo. And it is in need of direction. This direction is something only we ourselves, as individuals, can recognize. And then we can begin to build. Our subconscious can begin to take ‘better’ shape. Our behaviors can  become something we can stand behind. We can  learn to have trust in ourselves, to have faith in ourselves.

Call it faith, confidence, comfort in our own skin. This is the making of a healthy aura.
