The Full Buck Moon comes this weekend, rivaling whatever fireworks may show in the sky.  The Full Moon during Cancer Season is the most Moon a Moon can get.  Artemis sees to it that her magic is alive and scientifically measurable at this time.  The Buck Full Moon gets its name from the curious fact that a buck’s antlers grow the fastest during this time of year, due to the daylights effect on its hormones.

In your hair, in the air and everywhere, structure is eager to shape- eager to grow and change to the changing needs of it’s internal compass.

Rudolph Steiner commented that the horns of a ram and the antler of a deer are very different in the direction that they take as they grow.  He said that they essentially grew in the way that Goethe described a plant grows- spirally and vertically.

The horns of a Ram begin at the periphery and seek a center.  This is symbolic of someone beginning with a head full of world-knowledge, yet little understanding of his own soul.

The deers of an antler begin at the center.  That is to say, a person begins with a heart full of soul-knowledge, yet little understanding of the outside world.  

Steiner also had a great quote about the ultimate mirror-relationship of the external and internal terrain.

 

This weekend’s Full Buck Moon is an opportunity to seek the periphery!  Take real interest in the world around you, your immediate surroundings, that are full of meaning as they always are.  Reach for this external meaning, as those fast-growing deer antlers do.  Let them show you more of who you are!
