On the heels of April Fool’s Day, the timing for a Mercury retrograde could not be more apt. A day of trickery puts one back on their toes, like an audience member in a magic show. There is a desire to see what’s up the sleeve and decipher meaning between the lines. This is a very productive attitude to have for a Mercury retrograde, especially the anticipatory sign of Aries. 

Mercury retrograde combs back over mental gleanings, like searching for glasses dropped in the grass. Taking the literal shape of anticipatory glasses, I have several pairs of solar eclipse glasses ready for next week’s once in a lifetime event. The magic show will be in the sky. The magicians will be both Sun and Moon! Seldom does an event come along that generates as much anticipation as a total solar eclipse. Once in a lifetime, maybe!

Anticipation is a gift. It is the forward-view that heralds new life to stir within.  I marvel at the notable new life generated simply by making a good plan, getting excited for it and carrying it out. Sometimes it is elaborate and sometimes its simple. Last night we decided to bake a quick batch of peanut butter cookies and that stirred up some good little lights inside. 

The quantum pinpoint between a dream and a plan is the robin’s song of the soul. I hear them singing outside now, as the morning light grows stronger.

With so many planets in Pisces right now, the imagination is fortified with seasonal richness. Mercury retrograde in Aries is a wake up call, a reminder for what the imagination can do. Like a magician, it can make the light grow stronger, amplifying the harmonies of songs that take flight above us.
