Aquarius Full Moon: Expanding the Space of Possibilities and New Perspectives

The Full Sturgeon Moon arrives Tuesday, August 1st, in the sign of Aquarius. Both the sturgeon and the water bearer are known for stirring the waters, be it of a lake or a psyche.

I can imagine that the mindset of a fisherman on the night of a full Sturgeon Moon in the presence of whipping waters is similar to that of anyone on the brink of a breakthrough of understanding.

In the midst of turbulence there is nothing but rich opportunity..

It’s like the moment in the Matrix where Neo is offered the mantra “there is no spoon”.

Everything is actively rearranged, yet somehow there is more order and richness of prospects than ever before.

It is in times like these that it is an advantage to be untaught, maintaining a perspective as fresh as possible. Henry Clark Maxwell, the man who united light with electromagnetic waves by discovering that they shared the same speed said “Thoroughly conscious ignorance is the prelude to every real advance in science.”

Notice that he distinguishes this kind of ignorance as ‘thoroughly conscious’. Regular ignorance is for the people that chose the blue pill, and went back to their familiar styles of living without a real hunger for truth.

Conscious ignorance, on the other hand, thoroughly conscious ignorance, ‘knows that it knows not’, and through this knowledge is open to new avenues that lead to truth.

Thoroughly conscious ignorance is our righteous fight against automatism and dogma. It is a respect for the new, incoming facts that present themselves to the new, constantly evolving self.

This Aquarius Full Moon is an apt evening to reflect on Heraclitis’ famous quote “no man steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”

A shift of perspective can shift a set of circumstances and twilt it towards fresh possibility.

In a day when astrophysicists and biochemists are beginning to theorize that the universe is not just expanding in space but expanding specifically in the ‘space of possibilities’, it is worthwhile to try this cosmology on for size. If cosmos means ‘an ordered whole’ and such an entity is becoming recognized to expand in the space of possibilities, one can aim at achieving wholeness through the dynamic practice of ‘space growth’.

It’s not so much that ‘there is no spoon’ it’s what ‘there is no spoon’ means to a person in terms of new possibilities. It is a renewal of faith based on a closer contact with what is really real and reliable.

For Neo, it installed in him a confidence to take awesome action hero risks in the name of saving humanity from menacing machines.

But what might certain key ‘reframings’ mean for you, in your life, as you look ahead with the ‘last gift of the gods to men’ which is foresight.

The light of the moon is the light in you!

[…] Aquarian moons also like to push boundaries.  Her moon is near Jupiter, tying a larger social role (Jupiter) into one of a rule-breaker, a freedom-seeker.  She inspires others to become more free. Venus in Aries is a go-getter in matters of the heart.  There is much motivation to put on the charm and get involved with other people, often A-lister (Aries) types. Mars in Pisces sizzles with the yin energy.  Absolute passivity ramps up her drive.  Located in the 8th and near the unpredictable Uranus, it is even more electric and sexual in it’s nature.  This can be problematic when healthy boundaries need to be set.
